Zed's Dead are an electronic music duo from Toronto, Canada composed of ¨Dylan Mamid akaDC and Zachary Rapp-Rovan aka Hooks. They explore a diverse variety of genres that combine aspects of dubstep, UK garage, house, electro house, hip-hop, glitch, drum and bass, and more.
DC and Hooks have been producing music together since 2004, formerly as Mass Productions. In the summer of 2007, they released one Hip-Hop influenced album as Mass Productions, entitled Fresh Beetz, before launching Zeds Dead in 2009.
Zeds Dead's tireless efforts have earned them an excellent reputation amongst a new generation of producers as artists without borders - genres hold no bearing over their music as they transcend style and form with ease. They have established themselves as a dominant force in EDM circles and have received recognition and praise from tastemakers worldwide.
In October of 2010 the duo released a remix of "Eyes on Fire" by Blue Foundation which became a megahit in the dubstep scene at the time, and is now considered an absolute classic.
On March 1, 2016, Zeds Dead announced they had launched their own record label, Deadbeats, alongside the release of a new track "Back Home" featuring Freddie Gibbs. Later that year they released their debut album Northern Lights through their label Deadbeats, and subsequently embarked on a tour of the same name.
Their name was derived from a line in Tarantino's Pulp Fiction, said by Bruce Willis. "Zeds dead baby".
