1. NERO are a British Grammy-winning electronic music trio composed of members Daniel Stephens, Joe Ray and Alana Watson. Their musical style can be described as a fusion of electronic, dubstep, and drum and bass. Considered pioneers in the dubstep genre, Nero gained prominence in the late 2000s and early 2010s, particularly with their debut studio album, “Welcome Reality,” which received critical acclaim and commercial success. The album featured hit singles like “Promises” and “Me and You,” solidifying their presence in the electronic music scene.
Nero's debut release was "Space 2001" as part of the "Straight Outta Leicester" three piece vinyl LP on Reformed Recordings in 2004. The then duo first shot to notoriety - in drum & bass circles anyway - with their 2005 release 'Ragga Puffin' on Reformed Recordings. Watson started featuring on Nero's songs from 2008, namely "Solid Air" and "This Way" which was their debut dubstep release, and is now a full-time member of the band.
The trio released their first single on MTA, "Innocence", in the United Kingdom on 26 April 2010. The track "Promises" made its debut on 17 May 2011, when Zane Lowe named it Hottest Record in the World, the third consecutive single from the group to achieve this feat. On 14 August 2011, "Promises" debuted at number 1 in the UK and number 6 in the US. The London trio's debut album "Welcome Reality" was released on 15 August 2011, and reached number 1 on the UK Albums Chart. In August 2012, "Promises" received a Gold certification in the United States.
On 10 February 2013, Nero won a Grammy Award for their collaborative remix of "Promises" with Skrillex.
Their second studio album Between II Worlds was released on 11 September 2015.
On 27 October 2023, Nero released their first solo original material in 5 years with "Truth", and announced it was the first single from their third studio album, "Into the Unknown", which was released in 2024.
