Analog Music and Burger Bar – San Diego

Coming soon to San Diego in the summer of 2010 is a new idea for a themed restaurant and bar called the Analog San Diego a music and burger bar.  Combine all the things you love about a dive bar and then add some music, design and lot of fun. Only then you’ll fully get the idea of the Analog Bar, good food, strong drinks, music and burgers in San Diego.

The Analog Music and Burger bar will replace Mr Tiki’s Lounge, a long standing restaurant in the Gaslamp district owned by the Cohn Group.

Among things you can do at Analog Music and Burger; grab a burger, sing some karaoke (on steroids) and stick around for DJ’s later in the night. This new concept comes from the same people who brought you the very popular Vin De Syrah.  Michael Soriano, the designer of Vin De Syrah, will be designing Analog Music and Burger Bar in the fashion of a 1970s recording studio. The San Diego House Music team often gets asked how to get on the guest list at night clubs in San Diego,  it’s actually a lot easier than many people may think.   We have outlined a few ways that can get you past the velvet ropes, like a VIP, and at no cost to you.

1.  I’m with the DJ
We’ve all heard the term and some of us have even used it to our advantage.  The DJ is probably your best connection for getting into the night club for free.  The club won’t ask any questions if the DJ puts you on their guest list. Two to three days before you head to the club,  check what DJ is playing at the venue and then visit their social media pages and ask if they can put you on the list, most of the time they are more than happy to do it.

2.  I know people, people know me
Networking with night club event promoters in San Diego is another great way to gain free access to night clubs.  Do your homework and find who is responsible for promoting the event you want to attend, then contact them via Facebook/Twitter or their website.  The promoter’s job is to get people attending their events and since you want to go, it’s a win/win situation.

3.  Go to the source
Contact the club directly from their website or by phone number.  Ask them if they have guest list access and what it would take to get on the list.  Even if you’re not ready to drop $500 on bottle service, they may still give you and your friends free entry to the venue.  On the club’s website you should sign up for any email or SMS newsletter, which also often provide guest list information.

Learn the Rules
In the past, being on the clubs guest list was something to brag about, these days the guest list is a tool to get crowds to the night club early and in masses.   Be sure to learn the terms and read the fine print of being on the guest list.

• Does guest list get you free entry or a discount on cover?
• Does the guest list close at a certain time?
• What is the cover after the guest list closes?
• Is the list valid for a  limited amount of people through the door?  The first 300 for example.

By asking these questions you will be informed when you arrive and may help you avoid any bait and switch tactics if they were used by night club promoters.

Now that we’ve shown you some industry secrets, go out there and get into some clubs for free. Have fun and remember to dance like no one is watching.

a sign of change to La Jolla nightlife?

In 2009 there was a very expensive failed attempt by Bistro 101 to start up a new night club venue in La Jolla. For starters the owners confused the public and themselves with all the names; Bistro 101, French 101 or Bakery 101.  We still don’t know what to call it.  The public was left wondering are you a nightclub, bakery or a restaurant ?  No one knew.  It didn’t matter to the Russian discotech party thou, they will pretty much bring the party to any venue that lets them.   Bistro 101 = FAIL, enough said.

Now the only real night club venue left in La Jolla is Prospect Bar and Lounge.  Prospect Bar has seen a small increase of business but not as big as originally anticipated with the closing of Jack’s.   Prospect has updated their menu to capture the lunch and dinner crowds and is now booking live music in La Jolla every day of the week.

There is a sign of coming change in the lonely windows of Jacks.  A public notice has been posted for the ownership change of the liquor license.  The property has been purchased by M&N Entertainment, the same group that owns OnBroadway in San Diego’s Gaslamp district.

Perhaps this is precisely what La Jolla needs, a large venue to put the jewel back on the map of San Diego’s night life scene. SanDiegoHouseMusic.com will be watching closely for developments and will keep you informed as we find out more about the future of night life in La Jolla.
