Danny Bond has been producing house music of various flavors on and off now for 11 years. The studio at his home has grown into something he is very proud of and is now centered around Logic Studio 9 on fully loaded 8-core Mac Pro. DJing has been a big part of Danny’s life for around 18 years and he’s been lucky to play alongside pretty much any name you care to mention.

Originally Danny started playing vinyl (of course) but reluctantly moved to CDJs after a brief flirtation with the original Stanton Final Scratch. Now his weapons of choice are Traktor Pro 2 with the Kontrol S4 and Kontrol X1 – it’s an awesome combination and incredibly powerful.

Event Details: While the producer is best known for his trance classics, Corsten has also been known to push boundaries creatively and has always been keen to switch up his musical style when the mood hits him. The producer released 2006′s L.E.F., an updated version of the classic electro Corsten loved growing up that earned the #1 spot on iTunes upon its release.

2010 is set to be one of Ferry Corsten’s busiest years yet. About JT Donaldson
With over 300 productions to his credit and numerous DJ sets all around the globe under his belt, JT Donaldson has definitely left his mark on modern dance music.

In 2003 JT started Gallery Music Group, a homegrown recording label that has released records from Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Luke Solomon, Pty Ltd, Urban Jazz Naturals, Vibezelect, Malcolm Charles, Joshua, Slater Hogan, John Larner, 2nd Shift, Jennifer Karr and many others.

JT’s side project THE HUE, has been a labor of love for the past few years. The group consisting of Tim K of Home and Garden and DJ Damon Bell (Oakland, CA) was formed over a 2 years ago and has recoded with artists such as Kissey Asplund of Sweden, Dam Funk of Stones Throw, Black Spade, Bernard Wright, Mic Murphy and many others. With influences from early house and techno to disco to hip-hop and jazz, funk and soul, The Hue is helping to blur the genre lines and open things up for listeners and crate diggers alike.

JT has performed for commercial clients like Banana Republic for their BR monogram launch in NYC, Fund Raisers for Bravo TV Show hosts Padma Lakshmi as well as holding down a residency at the W Hotel in Union Square.

JT currently throws two parties at Trophy Bar in Brooklyn, one called “Disco Social”, the other a monthly called “Family Affair” with international DJ’s Amir, Ge Ology and Waajeed. While his music has been in demand worldwide for some time now, he continues his quest remixing, producing and making beats on a daily basis.

Large crowd dances to underground house music at Analog Bar

A large crowd came out to support underground house music in San  Diego and to officially launch SanDiegoHouseMusic.com!!!

We were excited to see so many familiar, friendly faces and meet some new ones as well. Good vibes were flowing all night and, of course, very talented San Diego DJ’s were dropping underground house music beats on the dance floor. Excellent mixing and track selections by DJ’s Macoe, Polyfonix, DJ MC and Mikey High Jinks!

Random Soul, AKA, Yogi and Husky, got together with vocalist Tim Fuller for a soulful release entitled, “Let Love Fly.” This seven-track gem has a little bit of everything for the house-lover.

The first track, the original, is driven by a synthesizer, Fuller’s voice and bass. The breakdown, at around 3 minutes, brings a beautiful change of pace with Fuller urging you to “let love fly.” This track, groovy, and deep, has a disco feel to it as well, as evidenced by the funky guitar in the background and the fact that you will be “digging on it,” after you hear it.

The second track, the instrumental version of the original is a perfect song to play in a loungy, swanky night club or sushi bar just before the big crowd arrives. It provides enough background jazz to make the happy hour-regular guy move his head to the beat, while the typical martini-drinking college girl will be grooving to it as well.

Track 3 brings a “bump” to it. Electro sounds, broken beats and vocals drive this one, which is full of almost every sound that house music provides. Some might love this one, but others may feel that there is a little bit too much going on in this song – like a Dave Matthews song that is good until he brings in the 9th instrument. Track 4, the “bumpstrumental” is very similar to the third track, minus the vocals.

The fifth track brings the Vernon & DaCosta rub into the mix. Completely different than the first four tracks, this one brings the dirty, dank, dark bass to you right from the beginning then reels you in with a killer piano hook. It’s a great song to mix in or out with, considering the long intro and ending.

And if the previous five didn’t bring enough to the table, Random Soul hook up with Sean Dimitri to remix the sixth and seventh tracks. More percussion is present on these two, but Fuller’s voice, the synth beats, and funky bass are also along for the ride.

Personally I like the original and the instrumental the best. There is an element of electro and disco to them, but they are jazzy, deep and grooving at the same time, which is not easy to pull off. Random Soul seemed to have done exactly that and I thank them for it.

a sign of change to La Jolla nightlife?

In 2009 there was a very expensive failed attempt by Bistro 101 to start up a new night club venue in La Jolla. For starters the owners confused the public and themselves with all the names; Bistro 101, French 101 or Bakery 101.  We still don’t know what to call it.  The public was left wondering are you a nightclub, bakery or a restaurant ?  No one knew.  It didn’t matter to the Russian discotech party thou, they will pretty much bring the party to any venue that lets them.   Bistro 101 = FAIL, enough said.

Now the only real night club venue left in La Jolla is Prospect Bar and Lounge.  Prospect Bar has seen a small increase of business but not as big as originally anticipated with the closing of Jack’s.   Prospect has updated their menu to capture the lunch and dinner crowds and is now booking live music in La Jolla every day of the week.

There is a sign of coming change in the lonely windows of Jacks.  A public notice has been posted for the ownership change of the liquor license.  The property has been purchased by M&N Entertainment, the same group that owns OnBroadway in San Diego’s Gaslamp district.

Perhaps this is precisely what La Jolla needs, a large venue to put the jewel back on the map of San Diego’s night life scene. SanDiegoHouseMusic.com will be watching closely for developments and will keep you informed as we find out more about the future of night life in La Jolla.
