About Luca
Not unhumorously hailing from the small Tuscan town of Lucca, Luca Bacchetti is one of the foremost proponents of the seminal swing sound coming from the peninsula and abroad. Currently residing in Barcelona, the DJ, producer and co-label head makes swift business of spreading his signature twists and musical turns through myriad productions released and remixes on Ovum, Wagon Repair, Be As One, Supernature, Tenax, Safari Electronique, Sci+Tec and of course, Hideout. Additionally, he’s accrued a host of accolades including a nod for Beatport’s best artist in 2008 that confirms Luca’s status as an industry leader.

As a DJ, Bacchetti’s style is incomparable, showcasing his unique ear for selection and rare ‘voice’ to which he adds a sexiness uncommon amongst his peers. Mads Bjerregaard

DJ Mads Bjerregaard is an exchange student from Copenhagen where he is a DJ playing house and techno music using vinyl records.  This will be his first appearance DJing in San Diego.  His Music is influenced by the underground scene in Copenhagen. Arrive early to catch European disco-house tunes and deep funky baselines.

 

 

KEONI CELOZA

This will be the 3rd time Keoni perofrmas at an SDHM party and he always brings his A game to the turntables.  For the last 3 years Keoni Celoza has been producing dance music and creating unique remixes that hook you with vocals and keep you intrigued with hand-crafted grooves.  He prides himself on delivering memorable DJ sets, filled with thoughtful programming and seamless mixing, track after track.

 

DJ MISHA
DJ Misha has been pleasing crowds and playing dance music in San Diego since 2004.  His current DJ gigs include Searsucker and Burlap. He is also the resident DJ for Pacific Magazine events as well as the resident DJ at SanDiegoHouseMusic.com.

A regular contributor to the SanDiegoHouseMusic Podcast, Sudonim, represents the darker and edgier side of electronic dance music. He catches your ear and keeps your attention by mixing tech house and minimal tracks that demonstrate  the organic side of techno beats.

Episode 52 of the San Diego DJ  dance music podcast we are featuring DJ Carlos Sanchez and his deep & soulful mix to bring in the spring.  This mix was release at the Soundbar 10 year anniversary @ marquee dayclub in Las Vegas.

Carlos Sanchez has been a staple in the Las Vegas nightclub scene since moving there in 1999 from New Orleans. He began his career as a dj in New Orleans in 1997 after spending a couple of years in the rave scene attending Frebass Society parties. His style of music is directly influenced by his hometown of New Orleans and a love of music bringing together a blend of jazz, funk, latin and soul infused house music, that he calls “music for grown –ups”.

About Oktavio

Originally born in San Diego, CA, it is in El Paso, TX where Oktavio has started his DJ endeavor at the age of 19. Oktavio began to open for some of the biggest globetrotting DJs in Juarez, MX under the brand of Pastilla Digital, a promotional company responsible for establishing the rave scene in Juarez. Years forward, Oktavio then decided to take up producing, he currently has releases on Beatport signed onto El Pasos’ local label Dustcity Music. His music has received very good reviews from local djs and as aired on various radio shows.

Along with running his 2 year old production company, Loco Leo Nightlife, he has led memorable electronica events at venues like Ivy, Hard Rock, Onyx, and Se among others, as well as a rocking New Years Eve 2011 party. Keoni Celoza

For the last 3 years Keoni Celoza has been producing dance music and creating unique remixes that hook you with vocals and keep you intrigued with hand-crafted grooves.  He prides himself on delivering memorable DJ sets, filled with thoughtful programming and seamless mixing track after track.

About DROOG
DROOG is the DJ collective of Andrei Osyka, Brett Griffin and Justin Sloe. From
their start 5 years ago, DROOG has steadily built a reputation as one of the
leading purveyors of forward?thinking dance music, in Los Angeles and beyond.

Known for their respected parties that through the years featured leading international house and techno talent, from Magda, Jamie Jones, Steve Bug and Martin Buttrich to Dixon, all four memebers of Visionquest, Nicolas Jaar, Dyed Soundorom, Shonky and beyond.

Droog masterminded showcase parties at WMC, DEMF and BPM festivals. For the past 4 years, Droog has held down a residency at Avalon Hollywood, one of the biggest clubs in the US. At Avalon,they have had the chance to play alongside influences such as Richie Hawtin, Lee Burridge, Steve Lawler, Damian Lazarus, Tiefschwarz, Mr. C, Booka Shade, MANDY, Matthew Dear.

In 2009 Droog made a leap into a new territory by launching an LA-based
record label, Culprit, which has built steady momentum with successful releases from Matt Tolfrey & Inxec, Hot Natured, Lee Foss, SECT (Soul Clap, Tanner Ross & Sergio Santos), Subb-an and joining the ranks of the leaders of the new school.
Having toured the US and Mexico extensively, Droog have since expanded with European and South American shows. In October of 2010, Droog made a Fabric debut.

2011 will see the Los Angeles collective focus on production work, with remixes for Culprit, Supernature, NOICE and original work for Crosstown Rebels among upcoming projects.

Thanks to all the beautiful people who came out to listen to Electronic Dance Music at Analog Bar on Friday, June 17th hosted by SanDiegoHouseMusic.com!  It was a packed house of great looking guys and girls shaking their booties all night long to the hottest dance music beats in town.

Siberian Express warmed up the night properly and DJ W.Y.S.R.D. drew everyone in the house onto the dance floor with his carefully crafted set.  Then DJ Parliyay brought it all home with a banging electro house set to blow the roof off the place.

About Wally Callerio

Part producer and DJ, part entrepreneur and purist, Wally Callerio has kept true to his house music roots since immersing himself in the West Coast scene of the early ’90s. Since then, the Los Angeles-based artist has gone on to internationally release more than 100 original tracks and remixes; launch his critically acclaimed Dufflebag Records imprint; and develop the burgeoning digital distribution site, digibag.com.

While Callerio first started mixing records at age 14, his foray in underground house dates back to Doc Martin’s “Unlock the House” sessions in the early ’90s. One-off gigs at house parties and short stints at local clubs help the young artist evolve his sound, which would feature melodic vocals paired with funk-jazz influences and deep, chunky basslines.

In 1997, Callerio took stock in his own sound and created the self-styled imprint, Dufflebag Records. His first two original EPs, “Déjà vu/Whispers” and “In Your Arms/Thisgo,” received critical fanfare from artists and audiences alike. The success led to slew of collaborations with other global house artists including DJ Sneak, Doc Martin, Natural Rhythm and Vibezelect, to name a few.

Dufflebag Records’ success followed Callerio into the new decade, earning him studio time for some of the industry’s most respected labels. In addition to releasing original tracks on imprints such as 5.1 Surround (L.A.), Shaboom (U.K.) Classic Recordings (U.K.) and Alluv Recordings, Doc Martin—Callerio’s original influence—began licensing them for his label and making creativity come full circle.

In 2010, Dufflebag Records has gone on to release more than 75 tracks on 26 pieces of vinyl.

Now as a new decade and new era in house music begin, Callerio is repositioning his sound and label. The past few years have been marked by the artist’s collective mindset, which has focused him on developing and stockpiling music for his forthcoming digital distribution site, digibag.com. But the time for reflection is over, he says.

“I obviously can’t hold back anymore. I have a ton of good music I want to unleash on people right now—good ole fashion, soulful, funky, dirty house,” he says.

Callerio jump-started his game in 2009 by releasing 15 original tracks and remixes on labels such as Phil Weeks’ Robsoul, DJ Sneak’s Oomph and Magnetic, Chuck Daniels’ Private Parts, 1200 Warriors’ 1200 Traxx and San Francisco’s own Motion Music. The December 2009 relaunch of Callerio’s Dufflebag Records also marks the release of 11 new original tracks, along with fellow artist including, Amp fiddler, Parris Bennet, Myka 9, Allensworth, Nadine Loren, Lili De La mora and Josh One.

What’s behind his ever-evolving vibe? As always, it’s all about the vocals.

“I am trying more musical, crossover house while trying to keep that underground feel,” he says. “I want people to walk away whistling a melody or singing a vocal that sticks with them.”

San Diego DJ's playing the AIGA event at UCSD

On May 26th , 2011 members of the San Diego artistic and design community gathered to discuss two important subject… Beer and Design. The event was hosted by AIGA San Diego chapter  and Geary Interactive.  The venue was the Neurosciences Institute on the UCSD Campus.

DJ’s from SanDiegoHouseMusic.com provided the soundtrack for the event. The music played was downtempo and lounge because it was a good fit for the vibe and the outdoor venue.  We owe a thank you to DJ MC, Polyfonix and DJ Misha who did an awesome job DJ’ing and even got a few people shaking their groove thang’.

Our DJ’s provided the music from start to finish the event, bringing the mobil equipment and dj set up for the 4 hours total.  Set up and breakdown took 30 minutes on each end.

About Gadgetman

GadgetMan (Danny Bond) is one of the  founding members of top UK production outfit Bassmonkeys. After six beautiful years of sweet harmony with his monkey brothers, it was time to face the world alone and on Friday 7th January 2011; cold, scared and more than a little apprehensive  … GadgetMan was born.

Danny Bond has been producing house music of various flavors on and off now for 11 years. The studio at his home has grown into something he is very proud of and is now centered around Logic Studio 9 on fully loaded 8-core Mac Pro. DJing has been a big part of Danny’s life for around 18 years and he’s been lucky to play alongside pretty much any name you care to mention.

Originally Danny started playing vinyl (of course) but reluctantly moved to CDJs after a brief flirtation with the original Stanton Final Scratch. Now his weapons of choice are Traktor Pro 2 with the Kontrol S4 and Kontrol X1 – it’s an awesome combination and incredibly powerful.

Eric Darius walks out into the crowd at Gaslamp Jazz Festival 2011 - San Diego

Check out a few photos and video from the 2011 Jazz Festival that happened in the Gaslamp District over the weekend.  The concert is put on by local radio station Smooth Jazz 98.1 FM and featured some of the best names in smooth jazz music today.

This years line up included acts like Euge Groove, Jessy J and Eric Darius, Spencer Day, and Norman Brown.  Morning show DJ Mike V. and show producer Lenny B. from the the Smooth Jazz 98.1 radio station were on location interviewing concert goers and letting people know that “we want to be your at work radio station!”

About JT Donaldson
With over 300 productions to his credit and numerous DJ sets all around the globe under his belt, JT Donaldson has definitely left his mark on modern dance music.

In 2003 JT started Gallery Music Group, a homegrown recording label that has released records from Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Luke Solomon, Pty Ltd, Urban Jazz Naturals, Vibezelect, Malcolm Charles, Joshua, Slater Hogan, John Larner, 2nd Shift, Jennifer Karr and many others.

JT’s side project THE HUE, has been a labor of love for the past few years. The group consisting of Tim K of Home and Garden and DJ Damon Bell (Oakland, CA) was formed over a 2 years ago and has recoded with artists such as Kissey Asplund of Sweden, Dam Funk of Stones Throw, Black Spade, Bernard Wright, Mic Murphy and many others. With influences from early house and techno to disco to hip-hop and jazz, funk and soul, The Hue is helping to blur the genre lines and open things up for listeners and crate diggers alike.

JT has performed for commercial clients like Banana Republic for their BR monogram launch in NYC, Fund Raisers for Bravo TV Show hosts Padma Lakshmi as well as holding down a residency at the W Hotel in Union Square.

JT currently throws two parties at Trophy Bar in Brooklyn, one called “Disco Social”, the other a monthly called “Family Affair” with international DJ’s Amir, Ge Ology and Waajeed. While his music has been in demand worldwide for some time now, he continues his quest remixing, producing and making beats on a daily basis.

Large crowd dances to underground house music at Analog Bar

A large crowd came out to support underground house music in San  Diego and to officially launch SanDiegoHouseMusic.com!!!

We were excited to see so many familiar, friendly faces and meet some new ones as well. Good vibes were flowing all night and, of course, very talented San Diego DJ’s were dropping underground house music beats on the dance floor. About Miguel Migs:

At the forefront of dance music’s deeper realm stands Miguel Migs personifying the chilled-out, soul-driven vibe of the Naked Music concept. Combining the best of both the electronic music world, with live instrumentation to create an organic-soulful sound to his original productions and remixes.

His remix of the Naked music single, “If I Fall”, was the smooth, groove-infected track that first intertwined Miguel and Naked Music. His productions have been found slipping their way onto numerous compilations and sliding into the record bags of top deep house DJs across the globe. Miguel has since found himself on the remixer A-list of dance music’s top record labels and producers.

About Mark Farina

“I look at my job as a modern day traveling minstrel, to bring new music to as many places as I can, and expose obscure records that, otherwise, might go hidden.” While Mark Farina may be able to sum up his job description in a sentence, there is much more to be written.

Mark developed his musical tastes in Chicago – listening to house music on the radio, living in one of the country’s most primordial breeding grounds for house. Around ’88, while record shopping at Imports, Etc., he met Derrick Carter and a friendship began. “I just ended up there between classes, I ended up buying his picks. He steered me toward the cutting edge House producers  of the time.”

With this first episode we are excited to launch the SanDiegoHouseMusic.com Resident DJ Mix Series! First up on the decks is good friend and San Diego DJ Rob Sarin with his mix titled Discorotic.  Rob Sarin recorded the mix in late fall of 2010 using Ableton. He describes the compilation as a mix of indie dance/nu disco with bits of electro, breakbeat, and progressive house.
